#RefugeesWelcome Collaborative Social Media Campaign @ Online

Our new #RefugeesWelcome Collaborative Social Media Campaign will push back against the misinformation being spread online about refugees, why they come here, and what their lives are like.

In recent weeks, several dinghies have made land on the beaches in and around Hastings. Carrying refugees from Northern France seeking a better life here in the UK, the boats have caused a lot of consternation online. But they have also provoked an outpouring of welcome, of love and of friendship.

It is this we aim to highlight by replying to the often-repeated stock phrases such as “they should be sent straight back to France” with responses based in fact and lived reality.

Every Thursday we will be sharing social media cards with this information, designed by winderful local illustrator Sarah Gomes Harris. We invite anyone who wants to take part to email alex@therefugeebuddyproject.org to access these designs and share them alongide the hashtag #RefugeesWelcome

For more information about this campaign please see the #RefugeesWelcome Campaign Page.
