Statement on the Rwanda Plan decision

We are delighted that the Supreme Court has upheld the decision that the Government’s Rwanda plan is unlawful.

The Court agreed that there was “a real risk of deported refugees having their claims wrongly assessed, or being returned to their Country of origin”

Having worked with participants who received letters threatening to send them to Rwanda, we have seen first hand the fear that this threat brought and the damage to people’s mental health.

But this is not the end of the campaign...

The Government has already begun talking about alternatives to this horrendous plan, seeking other countries to send people to.

We call on the Government to overhaul the asylum system in this country so that it is based on respect, dignity and safety rather than fear and violence.
